  • Celtic manor

Wish people would call it the Celtic (K) rather than celtic (football club).

Currently a bloke on talk sport, cardiff city fan, lives near said Manor which he pronounced wrong. He was welsh, wants England to win the tournament as he put on a bet of 120 quid on them.!!!!

He put on £20 @ 11/2 for £110 profit and would want England to beat Wales if they met in the Semi-Finals 🤡

        1. Wales won't reach the semis
        2. If England win , he wins money...it's an insurance bet. If Wales were to reach the last four he'd gladly forfeit his stake to see his home country reach a major final.
He's betting with his head..not his heart.

Pronouncing the 'C' as soft comes from Norman French and pronouncing it as a hard 'c' comes from Classical Latin and Greek. The chap may have made an error but the confusion lies partly in the linguistic cornucopia that is English.
