Glad I taught her well :-)
I used to have a girlfriend who would insert a lollipop, well, I needn't say where. I used to tell her to be careful as she needed it to help the kids cross the road in the morning.

One of the things that concerns me, not about this man, I don't care about him, but the way that as soon as someone does something that gets in the news or who wins something or does well, there is someone immediately digging up all their history just to find a little bit of dirt to try and discredit them?
My question is why? What doe the digger gain from it? What is the motivation? How sick can the person be to get satisfaction from ruining someone else's life, and perhaps the lives of their family as well?

            I really don't get it!

Yes it is disturbing, and something the Jon Ronson book mentioned in the thread covers in his characteristically thoughtful way.

By the same token why did this fella feel the need to start raising money for a child just because she was crying and some people took the piss? She is unlikely to see any of the pathetic abuse, nevermind understand it to have an impact on her. Shes too young.

And why does he think sending money will make it OK? Whats that teaching children? Start crying when something doesn't go your way and then people will make it better with money?

My question is what is his motive from this fundraiser? Is he genuine or just seeking attention himself and taking the opportunity to get his name out there? Whatever his motive its certainly backfired.

I believe people started digging because hed done quiet since the money was raised and people thought they were being scammed. They wouldnt be the first people to be scammed with a "pull on the heart strings " fundraiser.

It's a sign of the times.
Some nasty arsehole always in the darkness hoping to ruin someones life.
The bad sign of the Internet being used to destroy people.

Apparently they have found the family of the German girl and they’ve asked for the money to go to UNICEF. A nice outcome I think. Some of the abuse directed at the guy who started the fundraising was horrendous.

The Internet harbours some awful behaviours.
