There's a new one in Amersham (apart from me when I'm in the office) my niece who is studying at Cardiff Uni, bought he a city shirt this week :thumbup:

Have you been to the Royal Standard pub in Beaconsfield? Possibly the most impressive pub I have ever visited.
The Fleece at Bretforton (near Evesham) also being a contender.

Hi TBG - done the Crazy Bear in Beaconsfield, normally stay at the Crown Hotel in Amersham - there next week first time in 17 months :yikes:

The Crazy Bear, a gimmick of a pub, is not my bag. I've never been there but I had to help a friend's daughter obtain a refund after the owners/staff at the CB ignored every email she sent and after never answering the phones - and after the venue cancelled the very expensive booking themselves.

Yes I used to live in Beaconsfield years ago before it went downhill. The Bull is considered a better place though.

I used to live near Colnbrook, a village literally a 'stone's throw' from Heathrow airport. There is a pub called 'The Ostrich', which I think dates back to the 1100's (I can't be arsed to verify right now at 2.45am here!) Apparently, it is the second oldest pub in the UK.
Above the bar, was a signed letter of acknowledgement from HRM.

If you entered by the main entrance, you would need to duck your head.. folk were obviously smaller in stature back then.
