  • Liverpool loses out to north west Wales.

The north-west slate mining area is said to have "roofed the world" at its height in the 19th Century.

Wales' Slate Landscape has been inscribed as the UK's 33rd UNESCO World Heritage Site. Llongyfarchiadau!

The status recognises 1,800 years of slate mining, the people, culture & Welsh language, & how the landscape roofed the 19th-century

World Heritage inscription also celebrates the slate communities of Gwynedd, their culture and use of the Welsh language

The Slate Landscape becomes the 4th UNESCO World Heritage Site in Wales, joining the Castles of King Edward I, Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and the Industrial Landscape of Blaenavon.

Together they celebrate the rich cultural tapestry of Wales

It's a celebration of the culture and language as much as it being an area of beauty.

Wales has always been underrated in it’s culture and beauty. Has been put aside if you compare the so called “popularity” of Ireland and Scotland over the years, especially in the Film Industry.

Doesn't make a lot of difference to the people, North Wales is full of scousers this time of year anyway
