Coat it is then. Blackpool has been one of those grounds that always seems to have alluded me over the years so it's my first foray into Bloomfield Road. Rain or shine, I'll be there.

I’m on the train up there now. Due in Blackpool early evening. Looking to avoid anywhere full of noisy stag dos and hammered football fans.

Carlisle and Mansfield take some beating but Blackpool's ones were complete helmets. Especially the ones in jump suits - what the hell was that all about?

If you are wanting to avoid the knobs that Blackpool attracts and want a few quiet beers in a pretty nice town then break your journey at Bolton and get the train to Southport. It is a hell of a lot nicer than Blackpool.

Think the weirdest time I stayed in Blackpool was on the way back from Hartlepool ( slight diversion )
