Incredibly given all of the talk of heatwaves, Somerset v Warwickshire has been abandoned as a draw due to rain! Even more incredibly I, I was four the last time we beat Surrey in a Championship game in Cardiff. With the bottom two both winning with a bit to spare, I find myself thinking of raising the subject we got every season we were in the Championship about it being a crap league this season, but there’s always a part of me thinking that a league where any team can beat any one else as a strong league.

don’t get the criticism of Carlson for both the decision to enforce the follow on and his batting today - he’s an inspirational captain and it’s clear the whole team is playing for him, while I admired his bottle for taking the game to Surrey after the shambolic early run out. Finally, what a good signing Hadley has been, we’ll do well to get someone as effective as him for the last six matches.

An excellent win and a great team effort with contributions from many of the team . Glamorgan of old would have folded after that last wicket stand but there’s a different “feel” about this current side and despite the ridiculous early run out they still played with a confidence they would get the runs needed
