Re: Anyway .......how did the jacks get on ?
70% possession and some wonderful passing along the back line bringing the 'Pivot' into play by using the keeper as a sweeper.
It's the Swansea Way whatever they think that is because in reality this is not a new system invented by them but rather a system perfected by Barcelona using Puyol, Iniesta, Xavi and Messi
Unfortunately at the moment the jacks are finding that free transfers and loans of untried youngsters from the premier league is not conducive to quick tempo passing which is basically what they claim is all they want. They will unfortunately get better at it as they bore the pants off everybody but by then hopefully losing to us will be the final straw for them lot and they'll be calling for the managers head.

They're in real trouble. This manager is all possession no substance. Man City play fantastic football with fantastic players, you can't just keep the ball and expect it to be magically sucked into the net or the opposition be impressed and gift you a goal. I'd take our style of football everyday, we are unbeaten

Re: Anyway .......how did the jacks get on ?
They are trying to keep the ball way too much with a keeper and a few likely calamities waiting to happen.
How they got a point from the Sheff U game I'll never know. Their keeper got closed down almost in his six yard box at one point.
It is brilliant to see.

Fairly certain this was aimed at me.Originally posted by Hilts View PostLight years ahead of us mun.😂
A certain prolific poster has been quiet recently. Maybe DML was right for once and there is a Jack about. Or was.
I commented Saturday after the game and have on the Peterborough game. Unless I've got something to post about outside of the games then funnily enough I don't post.
Genuine debate doesn't really get going with dml and his band of blinkered men. Last night was get out of jail. A very good point given what had gone before but we got outplayed and outfought by a team that has just come up.

dml posted that you wouldn't hear from me on Saturday night now that we had won, about 5 posts after I had posted. Very bizarre.
You obviously take his word for it.
You've got two types of City fan here mainly. Those that see it for what it is and that we need to change things going forward to get up and stay up. The others, our board and dml also, seem to see things as going swimmingly and are over the moon with it.
I know which one will see us stagnate and it isn't the ones that want to move with the times.

Re: Anyway .......how did the jacks get on ?
As said to dml in another thread labelling somebody a Jack seems to be the last resort of people with one argument.
The City fans that bemoan the style want the club to succeed. They have seen what direct football without much passing gets us when we get up, a season long 'happy to be there' tour of the Premier League.
If people want to stay in the Championship then this style will be enough. If we manage to go up we come down as plucky Cardiff. Plenty can see that to move to the next level we need to start keeping the ball more. Others can't but you can't force them to change their view.

This passing around the back between their 'keeper and defenders is leading to too many mistakes.Originally posted by blue lewj View PostThey are trying to keep the ball way too much with a keeper and a few likely calamities waiting to happen.

The thing is, Martin has come in and clearly laid down how he wants them to play. If he rips up the play-book so early and says.. "okay, this isn't working" he's going to look foolish.
I expect him to stubbornly stick with the approach that he's adopted, resulting in their defence loosing complete confidence when in possession.
