Re: Always loved Hereford Away
For some reason Hereford and Gloucester are both in the Conference North. Hereford are bottom.Originally posted by Shrewsbury Blue View Poste
Yes great old style ground. Drive past it quite often on my way from Shropshire to Wales and it looks like it's falling to bits now same as Herfords team. Think they are bottom of the conference south at the moment.

1 of my favourite seasons. I went to Swindon on boxing day then Hereford then Shrewsbury lost all 3 of my 1st 3 away I should have saw the signs.
We got promoted though at Bury on a Tuesday night.

Re: Always loved Hereford Away
Hello all. Long time browser. Saw this thread as I was reading the post mortem on your game on Tuesday, which I had the misfortune to attend; though West Brom played some good stuff to be fair. So I registered.
Anyway, as a Hereford fan living in Cardiff (since 1982) I was at the game mentioned and all our other clashes in the 80s and 90s. Some great games, we had a habit of winning at Ninian, some scary moments too, being an away fan on the Grange and having to walk back to town after the game.

I remember Steve White scoring for us the last time you were anywhere near the top of the old fourth division?Originally posted by Llanishen Bull View PostHello all. Long time browser. I think us winning kept you out of the play offs ? 20 plus years ago ?
At least 2000 Hereford fans there that day , best following I have seen down here
Real shame what's happened to your club
I hope you come back mate

Re: Always loved Hereford Away
The big away following was 1996. We made the play offs despite losing that game. Lost in the play offs, you took Steve White off us (we were a financial basket case). 6 months later White scored both goals in your 2-0 win. We got relegated.
We might get back one day, for now it would be nice to not have every away game hundreds of miles away oop north, but I'd rather get that by promotion to conf national that relegation back to the southern league.
Off to Merstham (no, I hadn't heard of it either) tomorrow in the Cup. It's near Redhill and doable on the train from Cardiff. Happy days, hopefully! Good luck against the world's dullest team, Reading.

Is that DIY garden centre type thing still going near the train station ?
Some chaps from Edgar Street were wanting a chat with me on the walk back to the station so I had a browse in there
For an hour

Re: Always loved Hereford Away
When I was a kid I had to rely on my uncles for lifts to games, one supported City, the other Hereford, so for around 5 years in the early 70s I did alternate weeks at NP & Edgar St. Great times, especially as it was boom time for Hereford. Met John Charles on numerous occasions, total gentleman. Got a couple of trial games for them in 78, but never made the grade.
