  • Palace vs Brighton

Watching Palace vs Brighton , not only 2 teams I feel we should be able to compete with off and on the field but also 2 teams who have changed manager (Hughton and Hodgson) , personnel and playing style
Also Osian Roberts on bench for Palace as assistant manager.

And two teams who are playing good attractive football. They are both light years ahead of us. Potter is hardly a new manger as he has been at Brighton for nearly 2.5 years.

Brighton could have gone top had they won.

We finished two points behind them in 2019.

I couldn't help thinking we should be up with both of them but how much better they are than us. It just shows how fast things can change when one team is going in the right direction and the other team going in the wrong direction. And also in Brighton's case especially, a club that takes its chances when they come.

An entertaining win down at their place, too. Long way, is Brighton.

Both have been in the 3rd tier more recently than us as well.
They had people with a plan for the future and implented it.

we seem to have a plan for the future as well. we are getting rid of the overpaid, bringing through youth and targeting players from lower leagues who can improve.

it's a perfectly reasonable strategy for the long term.

yes it would have been an easier ride to try to implement it when we still had some premier League money, but we are where we are.

it is a long term thing though, if we lose a few games on the bounce we can't bin off that strategy and do something else entirely after a few months.
it is going to be a difficult season, but we aren't going to go down and it will be a benefit for future seasons

Good for them they've evolved, we've not.

Yes it is a long road and we should embrace that but why do we persevere with mundane long balls and no pace or creativity ?
Somewhere down the line we are not going to simply “throw a switch”.
If we had a plan we would start the implementation of that regardless of results or success.
We seem to have no plan and no future idea of how we are going to play.

Are you100 % sure if we continue to play as we are that we ain't going to go down?
At what point do we ditch the style of play/ manager?
What benifit will we get if we continue down this road for further seasons?
So many questions no plan at all.
