    Re: Newcastle Takeover Done

What are they looking for? Throw a billion at a club I guess it’s big. It’s cost the owners of Man City over a billion to get where they are, prob same for PSG. Neither won the big one yet.

Even if they did reach the top 6 in the next few years, you get the impression they're just as likely to be bottom 6 again soon after.

God help Steve Bruce when he gets called in to see the new owners. Will he ever be seen again ☠️

              Re: Newcastle Takeover Done

I have been thinking about this tonight,

And to take a alternative viewpoint, one could argue that as of today the incredible wealthy regime exists wether you like it or not, so we have two options, either not engage and take a moral high ground, or let them get involved and try and influence change from example.

Who knows maybe seeing women in high positions, LGBT campaigns, fans drinking and living liberally in our culture might slowly open minds, maybe not their current generation of rulers but their children and their children, maybe instead of shunning them, but leading by example, they might see some of the positives of western values.

The other point is financial, not allowing them to purchase newcastle does not change how much wealth they have, but surely spending 100's of millions in the UK is money that is coming into our economy, instead of theirs, I would rather Mbape paying 40% tax in this country than in France or Spain.

They'll have a new European manager soon. And two or three marquee signings come January. With more to come next summer. I don't expect to see them drop out of the EPL for a long, long time.

Within the last ten years, Wigan and Leicester have won the FA Cup, Swansea have won the EFL Cup and Leicester have won the Premier League, while a mediocre Arsenal side has won the FA Cup three times, so there's no reason why Newcastle can't win something.

For half a century and more, Newcastle United have equalled cock up. That should change in the coming years, but are some clubs just destined to fall short continuously? Man City were that sort of club until around a decade ago, so it can be done, but I just wonder if Newcastle are forever destined to cock up?

Chelsea were a fairly nondescript midtable club, but if i recall correctly (which is by no means guaranteed) they were more or less instantly elevated amongst the elite when the russian money arrived.
Man City took a little bit longer to get to the top, it seemed they struggled to attract big signings as quickly, and there was one more big club up there in the form of Chelsea. Of course having all that money has to tell eventually.

Newcastle are now trying to compete with Chelsea and Man City + the traditional big clubs, so it is already a more crowded scene, and at a time when even a newly promoted side can splash 100m on players and go straight back down. suspect that they may take that little bit longer to establish themselves at the top.

Chelsea were always going to attract players as they are London based, Man City not so much , and Newcastle - hardly an outpost of culture.

Going by your logic with wigan and Leicester, they could have already……they never seem too. I don’t even recall if they’ve made it to a cup final in the last 30 years? Have they? Or semi?
