Just watched the COP26 TV debate on BBC1 which was followed by a programme called RuPaul’s Drag Race UK. Wow, and there was me thinking that Blankety Blank was the pits.

Yeah, but it aint like it used to be. There are shed loads of options nowadays. Back when i was a kid, and up until my late twenties there was only the 4 or 5 terrestial channels pumping out pleb fodder. Remember that mr blobby shite?

When I was growing up there were a total of TWO channels - BBC and ITV.

BBC2 only started in the latish 60s, and you had to change your aerial , from an "H" shaped one to a horizontal "comb-like" one, as TV was changing from 405 lines to 625 - much better quality but nothing like we have today (even non-HD)

Saturday night TV was news and sports results, Dr Who, some shit game show, The Black &White Minstrel Show (Today's woke brigade would be apoplectic) and/or an oldish film, and MotD with "extended highlights" of one game and a few minutes af another.

Not forgetting of course there was no daytime TV, Progs usually started with a kids' programme around 4/5 pm, then the 6 pm news, then the evening progs, until the broadcasters just shut down around midnight.
