don't forget to add that she was like 13 when the 18 year old prince Philip started writing to her.

she's not German though, the last monarch born in Germany was George II who was born in 1683! I expect many of us have at least one relative born abroad if you go that far back.
even Hywel Dda's laws considered a foreigner to be Welsh after 4 generations in Wales, and that seems very strict by today's standards
