    Re: Twenty is plenty

I was last Lord Dargavel. Prior to that I believe Awel Mor Bluebird. And a long time ago the original Bromsgrove Bluebird. So my question stands; why derail what was a good question?

I answered the question. It was you that derailed the thread without offering any answer of your own.

Well no you didn't and I couldn't answer as I don't know the answer. But I'd be keen to find out.

They need the cash. $50-100M a year for the big clubs. Where do you think it goes? In the chairman's pocket?

              Championship away ticket prices
There is a great variation in ticket prices in the Championship for the away fan. One huge example is Barnsley fans paying £19 to watch their team in a league game at Cardiff City whilst on the other hand Derby fans paying £37 to watch the Rams at Sheffield United.
The EFL states: "No club shall charge higher admission prices for visiting supporters for accommodation that is ranked as comparable with or inferior to that used by supporters of the home club in the same or next ranked accommodation."
So, the EFL allows for clubs to charge huge match day prices (not applicable to their season ticket holders) in an area similar to where away fans are housed and therefore justify charging huge away price for tickets.
Our observations show that most clubs are reasonable to away fans but there are some who are still charging some fans more than others due to categorisation of fixtures.
A sensible AND REALISTIC price cap we may achieve based on the evidence gained from the ticket pricing available would be £25 maximum cost of an away ticket, that is £5 cheaper than the Premier league cap of £30. Although we could start at asking for a £20 cap with the least, we want being £25. We would hope that clubs already charging less than that would not then increase to the maximum. If we could campaign for that to come into place next season with a three-year lifespan it would save our members £1,000’s.
We could also look at a price cap of £20 for League one and two for the same period.
Based on the first few games of the season average tickets for ADULT away fans is as follows.
Barnsley Average £23 Highest all £23
Birmingham City Average £30 Highest Stoke city £35
Blackburn Rovers Average £27.50 Highest WBA £32

Swansea City Average £27.50 Highest £27.50 ALL

No wonder we have no cash for transfers!

On a serious note, I'm glad we're not one of the clubs fleecing supporters charging £35.
