  • Robert Plant

I wish old rockers would hang up their boots

He sounds like an old piss artist in a pub

To think of some of the stuff he came up with back in the day

    Re: Robert Plant

Most of the old bands/singers are still trying to do their thing, but end up sounding like a poor tribute act.

Didn't his son play for Inter Cardiff?

Yup, he studied at Cardiff Met, or Uwic, whatever it was called. Think his name was Raith. His father would watch him regularly.

I wonder if he lived in Roath at the time?
He should have played for Roath Ravers!

            don't you mean Roath Rovers?

            Or Raith Ravers

Or Raith Rovers ( that sounds familiar)

I never really liked Led Zeppelin. I think it was Plant's voice.

I loved zep but his voice was the weak part of the band

                And he slagged off Sabbath

                Nobody does that

                  Re: Robert Plant

I'm sure plenty of old rockers restarted their careers after seeing tribute acts grow in popularity.
To see others pretending to be them, playing their tunes, and earning a decent living, made them realise they could still make a living from performing. Easier access to music probably also helps maintain fans interest.

I saw Sabbath in 1998 , the reunion tour , fantastic to see them but even then ozzy was struggling

They were still going up to a few years ago

Glad I saw them then , it's money for old rope now

Kiss I saw in 1997 , again thought that was it .....just finishing off their farewell tour now ff sake

I don't really concur in RP's case. If he was still only screeching out "Whole Lotta Love" and "Black Dog" etc. well into his 70s I would agree, but at least he's attempted to evolve. I quite like some of his stuff with Alison Krauss - you just have to forget he's Robert Plant.

That's what I thought. What he is doing now is nothing like Led Zep. I haven't heard the new album with Alison Krauss, but the first one was very good.
