I really wouldn't use a free VPN. If you're using an iPad then you could compromise any security you have because there's no such thing as free. I really wouldn't use one for any financial transactions as they can be bypassed by sniffers. You cannot validate their encryption. My advice, just don't do it.

What about a paid VPN?

Specifically in relation to transactions?

Been told to sign up to platforms such as Netflix via VPN to get it for fraction of the cost.

Same when buying Xbox live etc

Paid VPNs with good encryption are brilliant. NordVPN has a Black Friday deal on. I'm not a seller, just mentioning it. ExpressVPN is still one of the best but it's more pricey. Just Google best paid VPNs and have a look at the pros and cons. What you pay for is top end-to-end encryption and no logs policies. They also have Apps for easy setup on mobile systems and desktops (Mac & Windows).
