Chris algieri. Well done Conor, but Algieri is a long time gone. He's more interested in Media work now. Can only beat what's put in front of you, but Algieri is 37, never really been that good and wanted a pay day.

Whether Algieri is past it or not that was a devastating punch. I guess you have to consider that another boxer might have avoided it, but if Algieri was in it just for a payday… he certainly earned it tonight

Yeah, great finish. I'm not sure about Conor Benn. I've never really rated Algieri that highly, and i think that he was coming up from 140 and that's where he's done his best work. Benn may have a shout at 147 though. Crawford and Spence aren't likely to bother him, and the rest aren't really that good.
Regardless of whether they’re “really not that good” you’ve got to respect your opponent facing you in the ring.
It’s just the two of you and there’s absolutely nowhere to hide.
I took up boxing 30 years ago
For me it was the perfect way to channel all of the aggression pent up inside
A very good mate of mine Vinny Algar from Ely - a former Welsh Champion was running a boxing gym in Grangetown- The Prince of Wales alongside Brian Mohammed, Wayne Bowden and a fella called Charlie
I became good friends with Steven Fettah (Chesy) and his good mate John Smith and Carlos
Excuse the pun but I got roped into boxing on a couple of unlicensed bouts in a seedy hotel on the corner of Schooner Way and Tyndall Street over the Bay
Can’t remember the name of it but was a right shithole
Twice I boxed some roided up Taffy - no offence lads
I’m six two and twenty stone and your lucky to pinch an inch now lol
Anyway
Goes back to my opening lines
You’ve always got to respect your opponent
If you haven’t seen Conor Benn’s finish last night then please look for it on YouTube
I loved watching his old man
This kids going far I promise you 🥊🥊🥊
Conor has definitely improved but milking over the hill fighters only gets you so far.
Talk of the winner out of Brook v Khan or Adrien Broner next. Not good.
The fight next should be Avanesyan. Eddie doesnt want to risk it though as its a dangerous fight. In fact i think hed beat Benn.
But if Benn really wants to become a genuine World Champ these are the fights he needs to win not beating up over the hill shot fighters.
Algieri wasn't interested. Threw on the hook on a few occasions but that was it. Stood in front of Benn as well, although good finish by Benn, straight through the gaurd.
