  • Walesonline breakdown of Cardiff's young talent

Would love to get Bob/others who watch the younger age grades thoughts about the ones we're less familiar with

Cardiff City have unprecedented numbers of players bursting into the first team from their Academy. This is the story of how it has happened - and the exciting ones you've yet to see

It was a disappointing showing by the under 18s in the Youth Cup last week, but Ashford was the stand out player for them. It’s a bit strange though that, having been used off the bench by the under 23s quite widely earlier in the season, he’s barely getting any game time for them lately.

Seems the club has been doing things right the last ten or so years and may reap the rewards over the next few seasons.

Just watched Arsenal beat West Ham, they’ve got a clutch of youngsters forcing their way into the first team. Good to see and I hope we go down the same road, I’m sure the bonding between fans and squad improves tremendously with home grown talent on the park. Obviously they have to be up to it and the feedback we get on here from posters who’ve witnessed our youngsters over the last few seasons seem to suggest they are. Fingers crossed.
