Popular in the 1980s, the 3-4-3 is having a resurgence in popularity by using athletic wing-backs and creative attackers. Written by @EricLaurie, illustrated by @Fennertown Try The Athletic for FREE for 30 days: https://t.co/6RsesJkZGp https://t.co/BM5FhDtTnQ

    Very good watch.

So it doesn't really suit us. We don't have defenders who can play the ball into midfield and our centre midfield is so ineffective it causes problems for our back 3.

I'm sure they're right when they say that as a formation it can be strong in attack and defence, but it requires more specialists than other formations.
I think we have midfielders who can play as a double pivot, they just need to be a bit more disciplined, hopefully that should come with more training in this style.

it would be nice to have a more mobile back 3 for sure, with players who are comfortable on the ball. But it is what it is for now. it isn't as though we would be storming the league in another formation, and we've been OK since Morrison took over.
hopefully Morrison does well enough to get the job for another season at least and we can start to develop that style further in the summer.
