Write up by a Crewe fan, haven't checked the whole of the other thread so if it's already on there apologies.
Good article that, thanks - it will be nice to finally have a player who is able to "dovetail" with Harry Wilson :hehe:.

      Re: Welcome Perry

Buying the letters that make up his surname to put on the back of a City should should be a tad cheaper than that of a certain German gentleman who played for us several years ago.

With Perry in the team, we could do with having Mason back (one for you oldies).

          Re: Welcome Perry

He plays the ball forward more than any fullback in League 2.

How the hell are we going to sort that out before QPR?!?!

In all seriousness it looks like a top bit of business and he will hopefully improve the backline and the team as a whole. Welcome on board Perry.

Its a good read and he sounds like a good addition who can kick on at a higher level, much like Watters

I wonder how we're going to screw this one up

He'll be slicing the ball into touch by the end of February, don't worry about that :hehe:

Ya, Murphy could borrow his wheelchair to move a bit faster. :hehe:

Re: Welcome Perry - SIGNING CONFIRMED

                    He appears to:

fit the profile we're after as a RB: capable of playing a wing-back role
fill a need in the squad: a fit RB, leadership in the dressing room
fit the plan for the club going forward: a younger more skillful player whose value can increase as he develops.

This is a really good signing for us, on paper at least, and in a window where it's difficult to do good business.

Does anyone know how to pronounce his name? Is it "Nug"? If so let's hope he develops into a "Nugget".

He says N-G on the website. Just say the letters.

                          Yes, pronounced En Gee.
                          Isn't it Chinese origin?

All the Crewe fans were saying that's how it is pronounced.
My Girlfriend whose first language is Cantonese is adamant it should be pronounced eeng

I think you maybe right. In my previous job we used to have dealings with a dentist with the same surname and realising that nobody could pronounce it correctly, he was happy to be called Dr Engee to save people's embarrassment.

If he's of Singaporean background, on probability it's more likely to be mandarin than Cantonese.

However I know people with the surname Ng of both mandarin and Cantonese speaking heritage and i don't think there's much difference.

Should there be a vowel sound? My understanding is there isn't. It's just the nasal 'ng' from ring or the Chinese surname wong.

I expect having lived in the West for so long, he's ok with En-Gee for an easy life.
