They're currently nine points behind us having played one game more and they have a far superior goal difference. We still have to play them twice this season with the away game being on the final day. If they win both those games, which doesn't seem too unlikely at the moment, they would only have to take three more points than us from the remaining games to finish above us.

Re: Will Derby finish above us without another points deduction?
It depends if they can keep their squad together. They have to sell players at some point even though they're trying to bend the rules a bit and are turning down bids
There is also the possibility of expulsion: https://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/spo...keover-6497827

They've won 35 points from 26 games. Over the course of a 46 game season that would give them 62 points. Take off the 21 they've been deducted and that leaves them with 41 points.Originally posted by LeningradCowboy View PostThey're currently nine points behind us having played one game more and they have a far superior goal difference. We've got 23 points from 25 games, giving us 42 points over the course of a season.
I wouldn't rule it out.

Probably. 3 teams would still come up as normal from League 1 and the rest would be unaffected.Originally posted by LeningradCowboy View PostWhat happens if they are wound up before the end of the season? Will only two clubs be relegated from the Championship?

I think they have every chance of finishing above both Cardiff and Reading. Only four teams in the division have lost less games than them.
Their next three home games are Birmingham, Hull and Peterborough. I would expect them to win the lot.

That's what happened when Bury went bust (3 teams relegated from League One to League Two instead of 4, with 4 teams still promoted to take their place as usual.)Originally posted by Eric the Half a Bee View PostProbably. 3 teams would still come up as normal from League 1 and the rest would be unaffected.

I think realistically there's every chance; if they take 6 points off us they're almost there. Our best hope is that Barnsley and Peterborough don't start improving.Originally posted by driver blue View Postwell there form may suggest they will, as for our form it's depressing.

If the Derby squad of the second half of the season is the same as the first half - just maybe.
But it won't be.
Jagielka has gone and Derby have accepted a bid for Shinnie (from Wigan). Offers will come in for other players before the window closes. The administrators are not there to protect Rooney's squad. The mood music is getting worse. Rooney may be in the Everton dug out before the end of the window.
They have done very well so far this season - but the wheels are coming off.

Derby v Cardiff on the last day of the season already has a feeling of being an important fixture.
Derby’s fate going to the last game for the second successive season?
Derby to take their revenge over Cardiff for all the abuse over the snow scandal?
Marlon Pack to score in the last minute of the season for the second year in a row, but this time to relegate Derby?
