I think he’d have learned a lot from that spell at Stoke that would help him deal with issues arising here. I would feel much more confident him leading the rebuild than Morison (or whoever the board come up with). I think City fan, good championship manager, would want to be here and not too expensive is definitely one worth looking into.

Under contract until 2027. He’s doing his act of penance it seems with the Luton supporters.

Nathan Jones signs a new contract to stay on as Luton Town manager until the summer of 2027.

Seven years ago they were playing in the Conference. It shows how in many ways it's so much easier to build a team/style of play coming up through the divisions, such as Bournemouth, Brentford, and ironically Swansea. The likes of Colwill would have been comfortable in league 2, then probably league 1, and almost certainly his 'game' would be nowadays more suited to the pace of the Championship,

Classic case of survivorship bias there, what about all the teams who have built a style of play in the conference and are still crap and in the conference?

It's not exclusive, sure, but providing it's an established league club and they're prepared to invest proportionately at each stage, then you can do it a lot less riskily at those levels. If you're a lower level Championship side looking to change the way you go about playing football, it can be precarious and costly in the Championship. To his credit Morison is trying to do this, and seems to have the backing of the board.

Yep it's a bit of a graveyard for formerly decent sized league clubs.

Have fun and a safe journey Mr P! When you get back there's a test on the history of Liverpool so brush up as there'll be a few tricky ones I tell you.

 I do feel like I’m living in the past, I call the radio the wireless, trainers..daps etc. One I didn’t know was ‘in the past’ was one I used in Tenerife last week. We were sat in a pub and I asked the young waitress ‘What time’s the turn on?’, she gave me a confused ‘You want to turn what on?’…… my missus pipes up ‘ Aw love, he means the act’. She then had a bit of a go at me saying that how could I expect a youngster to know that ‘the turn’ meant the act.
I thought it was a normal phrase to use:shrug:

I enjoy our historical football and local history banter and I'm impressed by your knowledge of both. Brush up on John Houlding but here's a quick one.

Who were you watching at Anfield until 1892?

An eye-opener and something that can keep you amused on long journeys is The Urban Dictionary. Flick through it or type in a word to find its contemporary meaning. You'll be up-to-speed in no time!

Just realised I used the word banter which is a word I don't care for as it's often an 'excuse' word. I also just realised I'm talking to myself again. I blame it on overprescribing.
