    Re: Joe Ralls.

To replace him with an equally good player would cost us a few million. We could offer Ralls a £6k a year increase for 3 years and after the contract expires we would’ve spent an extra £1m. (Just under actually).

Including wages over several years and a transfer fee, there’s no way we could get as good a player for as cheap as increasing Ralls’ contract by 6k / 25%.

Injury is minor and hopefully be back after this weekend, really keen to see more of the middle three we had v Forest.

      Good news.

We need to keep him if at all possible.

I agree with all the comments about how he improves us and how underrated he is. I also think there is a value in keeping a player who has spent his entire career with the club. Not born in Cardiff but bred at Cardiff City FC. Continuity and football romance - no bad thing!

Agree 100% and I think in fairness to Ralls if we gave him a decent pair of colleagues in midfield to help him we'd see the best of him more consistently.

Hes not one of the 5 best but at the top of his game is better than a decent Championship player as well.

He does seem to be picking up more injuries though.

However he needs to be kept.

Since the Dave Jones era it wouldnt suprise me if Joe has the 2nd most assists for us from a midfielder. I think that shows how desparate our central midfield has been for consistent quality.

          Obviously nobody is near Whitts.
Nor Gunnarsson. He's another we miss now.

Thanks for that. Fingers crossed he stays with us.

Not really, we have done, but Wintle fills that gap and can pass

Bearing in mind that you'd like to think that the club already have a figure in mind as the most they could pay a player next season, do you think they should make an exception with Ralls and make him the highest paid player at the club (bar Bacuna possibly) next season? My opinion, based on no inside info whatsoever, is that we probably will have to do that to keep him - I believe that, within reason, we should and I'd offer him the captaincy for next season as well.
Personally, I think Joe Ralls has proved himself to be a more than capable, persistent, regular performer in a top six football team.
He has been a mainstay of the team for 10 years, and I think that it is a disgrace that some part-time managers have come in and given the captains armband to other players who haven’t been here a tomato season. If Shaun Morrison has not been playing, Ralls should be Captain.
In my opinion, Morison has correctly identified that Ralls should be Captain when he is playing, and I also think the club should surely recognise that Ralls warrants a new contract.

I was told that he's asked for a lot of money to stay, loads more money than we're prepared to pay so he's likely to be off in the summer. He has been injured a lot over the last few years, I guess the medical staff will always be consulted prior to contracts being discussed with any player as there's no point signing up a player again who's got an on-going problem

And, apparently,Bacuna is nowhere near the highest paid player, neither is Smithies. The "dark side" board made both claims up.

Not for the first time, I've lost count of the " we have just signed 2 quality players" posts on that site, which turn out to be bollix 🤣

They used to get info from three sources, which have all disappeared, or been rumbled/disciplined over leaks. The club is a tight ship when it comes to leaks, very little important info gets out, which is how a professional outfit should be👍

Didn’t you hear? We signed them but Dictator Tan cancelled the signings at the last moment.
