He's good defensively though and neat and tidy on the ball. Certainly not out of his depth at this level, but imagine Giles on one side and Drameh on the other, Peterborough would have been annihilated.
A few have said it before, but I wonder if he'll end up in a back 3 eventually, similarly to Ng.

That said he has been improving so who knows what he can do with more game time.
For me, he's better defensively than Giles and possibly Doughty. However, I also think his link up play with strikers and attacking midfielders is really good and he's also showing he could be useful in the air at the far post. I just think given time and nurturing we might have some player on our hands here

Why? Posession is such a misleading stat. You can have 80% of the ball but if you never cross the halfway line what's the point?

Also, we scored early, meaning the onus was on Peterborough to come at us. All we had to do was keep a good shape and then pick them on the counter, which we did with the 3rd goal.

It's a cliche, but football is all about what you do in the two boxes.

As for Bagan, the defensive side of his game has improved massively. He's got the athleticism to get on the end of things in the final third, too, and I think he'll get a few goals if he keeps up that knack of arriving at the back stick. That said I still think he needs to work more on his crossing and his ability to beat a man, but there's definitely a Championship level player there.

I get that. The point I'm making is that better teams would have done a lot more with it. We can't afford to sit back and break out on the counter attack against better teams as they will score with the possession that have.

That's assuming they'd have that much possession if they tried to do anything with it. It's easy to pass the ball between your centre halves. It just allowed us to get set.

I think it's safe to say Liverpool are one of the "better teams" but even they struggled to break us down in the first half, notwithstanding the couple of spurned opportunities they had to score.

I can't remember the exact game but a month or so ago a side had between 60-70% of possession (BBC Football stat) and got walloped by 6 goals. I know we used to get a bit paranoid of our very low possession stats when Warnock was in charge but in reality there is only one stat that counts. Our last three league games have proved that.

Regarding Bagan, I think I’m right in saying that a wing back still hasn’t scored for us this season, but I’d say in those games he played under McCarthy early in the season, he came as close to scoring as anyone - I can remember some good saves by keepers from him and one or two chances he maybe could have done better with, I reckon he’ll score if he is a regular starter for the rest of the season.

We must persevere with Bagan he has all the skills .

That goes for all our young lads its the future , potentially our only future

Is Possession stats a new thing ( last ten years ) as it was never mentioned in the 80’s and 90’s ,come to think of it, neither was assists ?
