  • Superbowl 56 on tonight

So Tonight is Super Bowl night, who's watching it. ? ?

I know pomeroy will be glued to the TV

Lovely stadium cost over $ 5 Billion to build, 70,000 season tickets sold aswell, they recently cleared the path from the Inglewood airport to the stadium, all the tents and RV's of the homeless relocated ( watch the documentary on YouTube, sad as hell )

At school 35 years ago, I picked a team that wasn't one of the popular teams, Bears, Dolphins, Raiders, Jets, Giants and 49'ers were the teams that C4 loved ( thus most brits did )

I watched a game and saw a fella tear the other team apart, he was a running back ( the position I played in school when we played gridiron ) his name was Eric Dickerson, Oh they played in Blue and Yellow aswell ( Simple times back then as a school kid ) the rams were struggling for a decent QB at the time, then for his final year with the rams he was joined by Jim Everett at QB ( who was a fairly high draft if my memory is correct ) things were good

They then moved to St Loius and while I knew how the NFL franchise system worked, I didnt like the franchise system ( look at MK dons :( ) that was it til about 6 years ago when they moved to Inglewood

    So who's watching the Game ? ? ?

any other stories on how you picked your NFL team ? ?

    anyways, GO RAMS

We're around the same age Matt.

The kids who had American Football teams in my school were generally geeks, blouses or carried their waanking sock to school with them.

I do remember Joe Montana from a ZX Spectrum game I think.

NFL Pony trainers were fuucking rank too.

    American Football be fuucked?

    Hope the Penguins win.

More of a fan of the game and the parity it tries to create. Would prefer to see the Bengals win but not that bothered and don't think they will anyway.

I was probably a geek, don't know what a (metaphorical) blouse is and have only used socks for footwear, but at Whitchurch I remember some of the rugby lads liked the game too.

No as it goes. Not fussed on the Pro 14 or whatever its called now as the games seem slow in pace compared to the English league which throws up some great games.

Don't understand why some get their arse in their hands about rugby? Yes it's watched by some utter dicks but some of ours have just smashed the bogs up in Ashton Gate.

Not sure of your point here, have you got one?

Im not overly keen on it, I was forced to play in school ( and for the school team ) so Im a little resentful of that, but I was told if I didnt play rugby I couldn't play football

but I dont hate it, far from it, in fact my youngest daughter used to play it for 4 years and I watched her play ( even went to twickenham and watched her play a game at 1/2 time ( during bath's " The clash " against Leicester ) , rugby and American football ( or gridiron as it was called in school ) are completely different sports, the only similarity is the shape of the ball imho

I'm taking the piiss a little bit.

Truth be said, I don't understand the game and haven't got the attention span to learn.

Thinking about American sports, does anyone remember kids on roller skates with ice hockey sticks and Cardiff Devils tops on around the city centre late 80s, early 90s or was I under the influence?

Were you actually forced to play rugby? I always think this is a South Wales myth?

We played both football and rugby at the school I attended. I played enough school football games to see there were plenty of other schools who also had football teams. Funnily enough, I also played those same schools in rugby.

I’ll add that you were expected to play both sports, if you didn’t fancy playing rugby during some games sessions you had the opportunity to either go back to Maths or fuuck off down to the pavilion and sniff glue or drop magic mushrooms with the headers. Always thought rugby was a better option than being off my chump at 2;10pm on a Thursday and then having to go home.

The build up hours before reminds me of the old FA Cup Final days.
