Re: Still no vax for Novak

I have to say that as someone who has been triple jabbed and is very pro-vaccine, I did find his interview very compelling listening. The principle that someones body is their own is very sound

We will come out of this pandemic and I think we have to do so with our humanity in place. There is no need for some of the more draconian measures to exist.

I mean, look at this, in Canada. From a supposed liberal Prime Minister. It's extraordinary.
Canada's prime minister says police will also be given "more tools" to imprison or fine demonstrators.

I agree - that is bonkers.

Everyone should be allowed to refuse the vaccine. Obviously the rest of us do need to be protected from the potential consequences of their stupidity and so it is quite right that they cannot cross borders; not work in certain jobs etc. I've absolutely no sympathy for Djokovic, for example. But nobody should be able to mandate that someone has a jab and nobody should have their bank accounts frozen because of it.

How would others die if he doesn’t take it? If you have had the vaccine you would be protected against him if you came into contact ?

That’s said you can still catch it and pass it on when your vaccinated as well so the vaccinated would be as much a risk to unvaccinated has he is ?

          BTW I’ve had mine.

Because this isn't an absolute thing. It's a game of percentages. Not having it screws up the percentages for the unvaccinated but also increases transmission to the whole community. And lots of people are unvaccinated through no choice of their own.

I find it hard to believe that people are still asking these questions.

People have lost a lot over the last 2 years, some lives will get back to some normality, others won't recover, our collective sanity has also well gone.

Well if your going on percentage what’s the unvaccinated survival rate for healthy individuals under 60 , and vaccinated doesn’t slow transmission as far as I can see.
Recalibrated testing may though according to the FDA

Interesting that he pipes up now rather than a few weeks back. I think he has waited until it is highly likely that restrictions will be lifted well in time for Wimbledon so he won't have to put his money where his mouth is i.e. all this brave talk about putting his principles before the chance to be the Number 1 men's tennis player of all time.

I've been ill since the end of December with an Asthma cough and breathing problems. Just getting over it when last week I got COVID.
Tested negative today. The only symptoms I had was sore throat, chesty and cough got worse. Feeling fine now.
God knows where I'd be without the vaccine. Possibly pushing up daisys.

He obviously has a choice. Nobody has disputed that. In most posters opinions, he’s made the wrong choice though. Hope that helps 👍

By trying to be smart and jumping in, having no idea why I posted my post, you've completely missed the point. Well done.

Re: Still no vax for Novak

It's very difficult to sanction a policy whereby the State forces people to have a vaccination of any kind even if the benefit is for the community as a whole - so the fallback position of respecting someone's rights but perhaps curtailing their participation in society (and in this case some sporting competitions) to some degree (and it may only be in the short-term) seems the better option.
