Is there a problem with your MAYA site?

    Can't get on from here.

Yes, apparently one of the plug ins for my blog has gone a bit loopy. Normally, I could delete it once I’ve identified, pit, but this time it’s leaving error messages which are stopping it from running - someone at the web hosting company is looking into it and is going to e-mail back to me.

Btw, where's your blog on last night's game Bob? I always look forward to reading it. Or have I missed it with the flurry of Ukraine conflict threads?

Sorry Bob, reading your post again I see you're having problems with your web hosting people.

I won't bother creating a separate thread now for this given it's a day late, but here's my piece on the Huddersfield match for anyone who's interested.

That was interesting what you said about picking up bookings for breaking up counter attacks. I also think of it as part of the game now and is maybe more of an issue for us currently not necessarily because we're becoming dirtier but because we're trying to get more men forward to join up with attacks (or to press) but that might be rubbish.

I mentioned it to my youngest on the way home today and he said that 'Whittingham used to do it all the time' which was slightly hyperbolic but had me thinking. Looking at his bookings they increased as the seasons went on which makes me reason that kind of foul is down to a lack of pace too, something the current squad lacks overall. Drameh hasn't picked up a booking since Forest and Isaak Davies hasn't had one at all, which would seem to back that up.

Incidentally, that kind of foul would be an automatic sin-bin offence in hockey, as would trying to prevent a quick free hit from being taken (or even not retreating quickly enough). Good rules I think.

It needs to get stamped out of football. The top teams just do it constantly. Fernandinho got away with murder for Man City.

I don’t like it, but I accept it’s a part of the modern game, I just question decisions like McGuinness’ early in the game at Huddersfield where there was no great danger to our goal given where the offence took place. It’s also worth pointing out that we had a better team when we weren’t chopping people down all over the pitch - this seasons team is clearly the worst we’ve had in a few years. Maybe we were better at it in the past and not all of our fouls were being spotted by the officials - that said, it was hard to miss Whitts’ as you could see them coming a mile off!

I mention Ng’s late assault on Carvalheo (might have got that spelling wrong!) in my blog piece. I thought Ng was superb, but don’t get what possessed him there - I agree “dirty” was probably the wrong word for me to use, but I think it applied there.
