  • First Match in Two Years Yesterday

Yesterday was a big deal for me:
    - First match in two years
    - My oldest boy’s 11 Birthday (well, it’s tomorrow), but he was so excited, and
    - My wife’s first ever football match. She’s from Bristol, so you’d not expect her to be that bothered about us lot and doesn’t consider herself a football fan.

Started off with a visit to the club shop and my wife (clumsy thing that she is) managed to cut her head on the clothing racks. The ladies in the shop were fantastic and gave my boys a football each.
We then found ourselves in the Canton Stand with St John Ambulance and needing to get over to the Grange End, which proved to be a melon twister for the stewards - yeah, letting us out through a door really can be that difficult!
Onto the match itself and whilst not the head tennis that we’ve been used to in recent years, we’re still lacking quality in terms of our passing (and finishing). I’d single out Flint here, who just punts it forward instead of looking for the pass. Fulham always seemed to know what to do with the ball, whereas our boys don’t have that confidence yet.
Saying all that, despite the head injury and not considering herself a fan, my wife said she had a super time and would come again, so that’s a result for the City!

Good to hear you all enjoyed yourselves yesterday. Season tickets for the four of you for next season?

Probably not, because living in Bristol (and the boys playing so much themselves) make the mid-week games a no-no, but we’ll certainly be going to loads of the Saturday ones.

I must admit, the team not coming out to ‘Right Here, Right Now’ seemed a bit anticlimactic. I hope that they bring it (or something rousing) back!
