It’s the hardest part for us. If we can just qualify we can go to the Finals with a real chance of going further but we all know the play off final could be very cruel.

They're usually so cautious about bigging up England's chances and showing respect to their opponents 😁

There's an argument to be made that European qualification is actually tougher than the World Cup itself, there's some real shite at the World Cup

To be fair, as WC semi finalists and Euro finalists, for once you can kinda see why they're feeling good about their chances

Appreciate that but doesn't mean they can't conduct themselves with a bit of humility

Apparrently if we or scotland qualify we will be competitive - patronising at best

In a perverse way I feel for Southgate as he seems a decent bloke but the media hype doesn't help them one iota

I need to remind youse that the United States defeated England 1–0 on 29 June 1950, in a group match of the 1950 FIFA World Cup at Brazil. The result is notable as one of the biggest upsets in the competition's history.

There is a school of academic thought that history tends to repeat itself.
