yeah on paper his job is basically reading out loud, and chatting shit about football similar to Gary Lineker et al. Everyone thinks they can do it, but to do it well most people would be terrible.
you only have to listen to so many awfully delivered podcasts to know that.

There was a documentary quite a few years back on the way he prepares for the Saturday show on SS.

The process started early in the week where he would drive to a services (can't remember why probably between commuting) get his laptop out along with the newspapers of the day and research all the teams, their players and stats, the records of the teams against each other down to the finest detail.

It was quite a few years ago and technology has improved vastly over the years and I wouldn't be surprised if the autocue in his case is simply a fail-safe.

This is another bloke who makes a difficult job look easy and the skill of his delivery certainly isn't down to a special telly and a couple of backroom staff.

I'm glad he's staying on personally as, although Juls is good, Jeff is unbelievable!
