A huge difference between writing and starring in a comedy show of its time and being a gross paedophile away from the cameras. I can't quite see why Benny Hill is being named in this thread to be honest. It's a slur on his character and totally unnecessary.

I don't think Benny Hill was at all like his character and a lot of people close to him say he was gay

But being gay doesn't mean you are a serial paedophile

Too right Sludge. Regardless of his sexuality, his name should not be uttered in the same breath as Saville.

Benny Hill was a very funny man but also a tortured soul . I read that he just loved making people laugh but was very lonely and a depressive .

Whether he was gay or straight some people , however famous or talented just fade once their star has gone out

            I think it's really sad

Frankie Howerd , Larry Grayson , Benny Hill were old school . As a kid I had no idea that their double meaning quips and flamboyance pointed away from womanising and towards homosexuality .

They were very funny men and its sad that what they did in their private lives perhaps he'd them back .

I think these days society is so much more accepting . But you still get some idiots . A fella I know says he's disgusted by the Cardiff Gay Mardis Gras and all those blokes in tight shorts dancing around . We all tell him to stop going if it offends him that much .

Read this. Read the paragraph on allegations. My wife was a beauty queen on the Isle of Man. You can join the dots up

I was speaking in support of him after his name was mentioned.

So many people knew about what he was upto. Its sickening how protected he was.
Hang on- Tony harts in the clear right?!

I’m not happy with Tony Harts name being included in that post either tbh

                        I loved heat beat

Just imagine being in charge of Cbbc now, and someone suggests putting some doddery old painter with a plasticine friend on the telly. Not a chance, just give me another dollop of Peppa pig. I don't know of a kid younger than 8 who doesn't idolise their granddad so why dont we have people like Tony hart any more? Hey Dougie is good telly, but it's not the same as a real person most kids can hopefully relate to.

I showed my 4 year old a bit of morph recently, he loved it. Note to self: show him a bit of Tony hart (or if necessary, art attack).

No need for posters to mention a few names they have on here.
Tony Hart was a good talented fella.
I remember Morph but who was the grumpy white one?:hehe:

If my memory serves me rightly, I also made a disparaging remark about Savile on here and my comment was met with resistance o. here as I was criticising someone who had raised millions for charity.
That was Savile's Trojan Horse, of course.

I could never get my drawings included on his gallery. Sent a few in. Even lied about my age to make it look like I was younger and so my sketches would appear more impressive :hehe:
