  • Joe Root

Resigned. Brilliant player , poor captain of a poor Test Team.

I think a short term captain. Maybe Broad and bring in Tom Haines of Sussex with a view to taking over long term if he can suceed with the bat.

I’d say Broad still gets in the team on merit, not sure any of the other potential candidates do apart from Ben Stokes - to me, it has to be one of those two and I’m not convinced Stokes wants the job.

Stokes has also had issues meaning he hasnt been available. I really dont think they should put him in charge of this side.

I think Broad. But Id be suprised after leaving him out of the Caribbean if they went with him but hed be my choice.

They are a complete mess at the moment. This is a big decision.

The problem is England want to rotate the bowlers and are clearly looking to replace Anderson and Broad with a view to the future.

Broad im sure would want to play every game and would want Anderson alongside him.

I think Root has made the correct decision. I am not a fan of Broad, can't argue with his bowling returns but I'm not sure he has the right mentality to captain a Test side. I look at his batting as an example, used to be able to build an innings, these days he gives the impression he doesn't like batting at all.

His batting has gone since having his nose caved in.

He cant build an innings. Can be dangerous slogging but thats it.
