Re: Basic , idiot proof washing machine
I thought that's you wrote in the ideal woman section when you joined the online dating agency.
Machines generally look complicated with loads of programs, but people mostly just end up using 1 or 2.

Re: Basic , idiot proof washing machine
I got one for a old boy up the road just before christmas
got a few simple settings, some are ( and this is how i explained it to the guy in his 90's , while socially distancing of course )
Rapid 15 C wash, its like a quick wash
Eco 20 C wash, bit more of a wash that above
Daily 60 C wash, a full on serious wash
press start
its a slightly smaller drum ( at 5 kg ) though they do the 7 kg for a few quid more, but he was on his own ( he is in a home now, had a fall and his son whipped him in a home sharpish :( :( :( lovely old boy, my youngest daughter will miss him ), so 5 kg was fine
180 quid, not going to break the bank either

Re: Basic , idiot proof washing machine
I expect it's because manufacturers have found that they can make the machines more expensive with these extra cycles, and people are more likely to buy them as they think they're getting better value.Originally posted by Fine Lines View PostI’ve never understood why washing machines don’t just have 3 or 4 buttons for basic cycles. That’s all you ever need surely. Why there’s a need for Egyptian hieroglyphics on there is beyond me.
If simpler machines were more popular, then there'd be more of them about.
