Re: levelling up
Almost like they have no intention of doing anything and it is just a buzzword? Not like the Tories...Originally posted by Rjk View Postfeel free to move to the politics board, but I can't seem to get on there at the moment

Some of the stats are a little tricky to interpret and curiously laid out but it is very thorough
There is so much to do.

Re: levelling up
it isn't easy, projects in London are always going to be more tempting, as the additional money and population there mean that the payback is always better than elsewhere.Originally posted by JamesWales View PostVery interesting piece of work that is - cheers for posting.

the government needs a real desire and to look beyond that and focus on projects that will encourage levelling up, but I don't think they have the will to do.it beyond some empty platitudes

The intention is an honourable one, but “levelling up” was always going to be too much like hard work for this Prime Minister.Originally posted by Rjk View Postit isn't easy, projects in London are always going to be more tempting, as the additional money and population there mean that the payback is always better than elsewhere.

Re: levelling up
its a flagship policy of the current UK government that aims to reduce the economic and social imbalances in the UK. Thus far its been a lot of rhetoric and political bluster from the Tories rather than any concrete action that will make a difference. Whilst billions are spent on crossrail, there's nothing in the pot to take HS2 to Leeds.Originally posted by goats View PostWhat is levelling up?
I heard somewhere last week that only around 30% or so of applications by LAs had been successful. not only that, but the levelling up fund is around £1.5bn. That's not going to dent decades of under investment in the regions outwith London and the SouthEast.
