    Re: Reddit Vs hedge funds

I’ve just downloaded Trading212 to see if I could take advantage but they’ve closed new signups.

I’ve got a traditional stock account but not sure that would be adequate but we’ll see

I’m not entirely sure how they are going to stop this going forward.

    Interesting times

Just realised I have an account with Freetrade IO so I can use that if my Apple Pay ever accepts.

Is it worth dipping in now?

It’s a huge gamble, and the shares are so expensive now you’d need to put in a decent amount to see any gains. Looks like some big after hours trading again though.

The opening call is circa 289 where the price rose to about 349 at it's peak so looks like all the value has gone unless they can spike it again

Looks like some dodgy goings on

The idea is spreading. Anyone interested in investing in Malaysian glove manufacturers?

Malaysia's Top Glove shares are among those to have seen a big spike in activity from private investors.

Unless it spikes to 10,000 :hehe:

That's the thing it's always impossible to predict the top or the bottom but with this it's so volatile you could lose everything in a second with little chance of recovery.

Also a chance it could take off but I would be afraid to touch it.

I've got a friend who's very invested in it. He bought at $58 and while I don't know exactly how much he bought, he said the value he holds has twice suddenly dropped by over $20k. Don't know if I have what it takes to hold.

I guess it makes a difference if you bought low and still stand to make a profit even if it drops $450 to $150 (as it seemed to yesterday). I definitely wouldn't recommend going in now.

There was some guy on reddit down £10million yesterday! There is no way I would hold if I was millions up, I don't have the balls for it.

I had my first try at buying some shares last spring when everything was ****ed by covid and even with that head start I still sweat at losing a few hunder :hehe:

Talk of GME opening at 500usd today! Imagine if you'd bought in the dip of 132!

You have to have balls of steel to buy something dropping like that.

Robinhood has blocked GME trading, so the price will plummet. Looks like someone leaned on them to stop the hedge funds losing so much.

I was watching the price for a while, and it was flying all over the place. When you see the graph after, divided into 30 minute periods, it looks like a steady drop - but it was changing by $20, perhaps up perhaps down, every few minutes.

They blocked it yesterday and while it was volatile, it was going up as often as down. I think Robinhood are allowing limiting trading today. But that is not the only place for normies to trade shares.

Agree that there was considerable outside pressure on them. I wonder what effect this will have on the stock market in general.
