The commentary team including an ex ref suggests it was ruled offside because the ball, though it came off a Liverpool player, was not actually passed deliberately hence offside. That's a new one on me and it seems the ex pros on the commentary team are equally baffled.

It’s because apparently it was unintentional from the Liverpool player. Ummmm he slid back defending and you’re telling me he didn’t mean to connect with the ball? Ridiculous rule. Why have they over complicated a simple rule?

I think it's one for the refs, even the players can't work it out.

On the contrary, the easier thing to do would have been to award a goal.

That’s 100% correct, same as a deflection or unintentional back pass to the keeper.

But it was a Liverpool player who played it onto his knee.

                  Unintentionally apparently. Bullshit

Anyone else think that goal was coming, Liverpool have been toothless after the first fifteen minutes.

I'd credit Ancelotti for defending deep and negating the initial Liverpool pressure.

Their not done yet, but Real have the better tactical options from the bench. (Rodrygo, Camavinga).

Yes, Ancelotti goes under the radar somewhat in this country, but his CV is as impressive as anyones.

Alexander Arnold continues to be a liability.
