I watched a report about this shooting on tv last night. I was staggered to hear the reporter say, that in the last twelve months, they have only had ONE other gun death in Japan. One gun death in twelve months. Read it and weep, USA - and the UK, for that matter.

I think i read that it's a 12 step process to get a license and then it's reviewed annually. It's such a major pain the arse that very few can be bothered with it.
