  • James Crole

End of term drinkies this afternoon for me and I met a couple of fellow staff members that I had never met. Turns out they're both big City fans, season ticket holders etc. Both seem quite knowledgeable about the under 23s, under 21s etc. They were both suggesting that Crole is one hell of a prospect, plays a bit like Shearer and both were suggesting he should be given a chance despite his age.

Rose tinted specs or good observations?

The second one against Newport. Crole stayed on the bench for the Cheltenham and Shrewsbury matches which suggests Morison doesn’t think he’s ready for senior football yet, but, physically, I’d say he’s just what we want as he’s pretty quick and mobile, while also being big enough to win a few in the air. He’s also a good finisher at age group level and is pretty effective when running the channels or having the ball played into him - there seems to be quite a bit there to work with and it would be nice to see him get some game time in the League Cup against Portsmouth, especially if we still haven’t signed a striker.

Surprised he hasn't featured more given our lack of options.

Either we are very confident of one or two coming in or SM just doesn't feel he is anywhere near ready.

Thought he looked ok in the bits I've seen, hard to tell how good in pre season but thought he'd done enough to be more involved.
