  • Is Football Ever Going To Grow Some Bollocks ?

    Anyone watching MOTD ?

Blatant dive by a Southampton player to try and win a penalty

    Ref sees it

    Yellow Card

    Absolute complete waste of time

When cheats start realising they will miss 6 games through suspension then we might start getting somewhere . 🤔

I’m afraid not, I agree though, blatant cheating should be a red card and a ban.

Bennett got screwed in the Birmingham Wigan match. Brum player running through to goal, Bennett comes across, you think he is going to murder him like Sane but actually doesn't touch him.

Lad throws himself to the floor instead of even trying to score.

Simple solution: retroactive punishment, like the citing process in rugby.

Its hard for referees to spot dives during the match itself (apart from blatant ones), so have a panel review any incidents afterwards and issue 3-match bans to offenders. No appeals, no leeway. Come down tough. If a team has, say, 3 players picked up in a season, they get docked a point.

Bit draconian, but this shit would definitely stop if players knew there were consequences beyond a yellow card.

While we're at it, those annoying pull back fouls on the halfway line when a player has got goalside of his man need to stop too. Personally I think they should result in a 10-minute sin bin but you could retroactively ban them for a match as well.

Oh, and anyone who does that stupid ****ing hop jump when taking a penalty should get a 3 match ban too, because it looks stupid.

                  I have spoken.

What really gets me is a player gets the slightest of nudges in the back, collapses to the floor and grabs the ball !!! - presuming the foul's a given. The referee always gives it other wise it's a deliberate hand ball, and a yellow card at least - but no, they chicken out as usual..

If football grew bollocks would it be accused of sexism

                          You have spoken well.
Why there is no weekly panel is being comprehension. There used to be one for something else. Put Victor Meldrew as chair of the panel. "I dont believe it!" Ban the offender for 3 games, fine them, fine the club, fine the manager.
Publicly shame the offenders. Use this IT wizardry on the video to dress them up in a frilly girl's blouse with little bows on, set it to appropriate music and post it EVERYWHERE.
And call it for what it is. Cheating. It is ruining the game.

Do you have to try and turn every thread into an argument about some social cause you don’t agree with? Chucking little digs into the boxing thread as well. It’s a discussion about football, stop turning up to everything and shitting yourself and crying.

As for the OP, it seems like refs are letting a bit more physicality back into the game this season, that should eventually help with the diving because they simply won’t be fouls. Agree that blatant dives should be harshly retrospectively punished. I’ve also always thought that if there’s a blatant dive they should have to replay it from every angle on the big screen, imagine how humiliating that would be!
