Re: Niels Nkounkou Left back
So what do you think they should do then - go out the back and rustle one up from the magic striker tree !! Get real.Originally posted by Ninja View PostLove how he's doffing his hat to the recruitment team.
Is this the same recruitment team that won't invest in a single decent forward?

Oh ok, I'll tell you what we'll do... Sign more left-backs, more midfielders, and play a false 9 with Watters or Harris.Originally posted by dml1954 View PostSo what do you think they should do then - go out the back and rustle one up from the magic striker tree !! Get real.
That's going to get us 40-50 goals between them two surely?!
:hehe:

Re: Niels Nkounkou Left back
there aren't that many around who are available, in our price range and capable of doing a job at this level.Originally posted by Eric the Half a Bee View PostSo why haven't we been able to recruit a striker?
plus there are at least half a dozen other championship sides who are also urgently looking for a striker at the moment.

We're clearly not prepared to pay any money and that's a huge problem within itself.Originally posted by Rjk View Postthere aren't that many around who are available, in our price range and capable of doing a job at this level.

Do you know what's an even bigger problem though, and worries me even more?
We need TWO!

Re: Niels Nkounkou Left back
Davies isn't a traditional centre-fiorward, yet we literally need two of them if we're to continue with this 4-3-3 that Morrison seems adamant with persisting with.Originally posted by Rjk View Posta loan presumably
We have plenty of strikers (Davies included) that could definitely play in a 4-4-2, yet we're not going to play that formation, clearly.
Morrison seems adamant that he's going 4-3-3.
We'd need at least a minimum of 2 Hugill's to pull that off, possibly 3 if injury hits.
Centre-forwards that can out-muscle players, use their physicality, head the ball, bring others into play etc etc.
We don't currently have one player like that.
The minimum requirement would be 2.
I'd want a 3rd as cover but we're not even getting 1.
The club clearly don't wish to release funds for even 1 player in that mould.
Either Morrison changes the system and runs with a 4-4-2, which would be a struggle with what we have, or we resign ourselves to a struggle anyway which is how I see it going.
If we're not prepared to take a financial risk at this point and support Morrison, then we may as well revert back to hoof-ball which is what I see happening.
Come Christmas, we'll have Pulis in charge or someone similar.

Surely there must have been a decent striker from one of the three clubs relegated from this division last season worth taking a punt on?Originally posted by dml1954 View PostSo what do you think they should do then - go out the back and rustle one up from the magic striker tree !! Get real.
Or how about one of the teams that made the play-offs in the division below us, but didn't get promoted? Maybe one of those clubs have a young hungry for goals striker who would love to make the step up.
Or how about a young hungry striker who got promoted to League One at the end of last season and who would love a crack at the Championship?
Were there any? I don't follow football apart from The City, but if Morison looked hard enough I am sure there are at least a couple of strikers that pre-season were worth taking a punt on!

Re: Niels Nkounkou Left back
Jonson Clarke-Harris looked decent last season in a struggling Posh side but without money to spend it'll never happen. We could also offer Watters as a part exchange or Etete on loan.Originally posted by Mr Soul '68 View PostSurely there must have been a decent striker from one of the three clubs relegated from this division last season worth taking a punt on?
