Many of the top clubs mop up anything showing any potential early on and sell them on to the likes of us at a profit. Etete being no different whilst also being nowhere near featuring seriously for the first team there.

It really is a gamble. A much bigger one than first thought if the only money we actually spend was the £500k on Etete.
I honestly think Levy saw us coming.
Etete's longest playing stint was at Northampton the year before last where he got just 3 goals in 16 appearances.
Yet someone at our club thinks he can get 20 playing up front on his own at this level :hehe:

I don't want to knock the lad, maybe one day he'll come good, but it seems a crazy buy to me.

It's a crazy transfer, like yourself I don't want to write him off but he's 21 in 3 months and to date he's had less than 40 senior appearances.

The naivety to blow (seemingly) our only transfer funds on a project could leave us up shits creek this season, our current strike force is relegation level

It's a crazy situation when you think about it.
Morrison has done well in some respects, he's rebuilt a poor midfield and they do look better.
We have decent wide options now and decent full-backs.

When you look at our forwards though, it really is scary.

Etete for £500k who just doesn't look like he's going to ever convince at this level.
If he was, he'd have stood out more in his loan stints I'm sure.

Watters for £1mil. I do think Watters has some ability but he'll never fit into a 4-3-3.
I appreciate that he wasn't a Morison purchase, but why hang onto him if we're not playing a system that suits his style of play?

Mark Harris... With the greatest respect I can offer the lad, simply shouldn't be here.
Has been here for donkeys years and done very little for us in all that time. He should have been gone many managers ago!

I'd rather chance our kids at the minute or change the system. If Morison sticks with 4-3-3 and we don't get at least one very decent centre-forward before the window closes, he'll be collecting his P45 in no time.

If people think the strikers we currently have are anywhere near what Morison would want to go with then they're in cloud cuckoo land. There is one reason he has this type of player at his disposal and it is simply because they've not backed him to bring in players at the most expensive end of the pitch.

Or do you think they've backed him and he has told them to put their money away as Watters and Harris are good enough?

The man has worked wonders building a team with peanuts who play football up to the edge of the opposition box. Our defence is decent bar the odd set piece lapse. Back the man with money to compliment this at the top end of the pitch.
Couldn’t one of the seventeen players he has brought in been a striker ? Just saying.

Id rather finish the season 16th and staying up on set pieces than relegated playing pretty stuff from area to area.

            Its a massive 48 hours.
            God no.

We've spent years moaning about the quality of football. Any transition was going to be difficult. Surely nobody wants a return to hoofball? We have to ride this out.

It’s a fine balance, ultimately fans are happy of their team are winning.

I think fine balance is one of the things missing from this thread.

We’ve gone from one extreme to the other.

We look absolutely pony from corners etc.

Some passing, some hoof ball would suit me fine

                    Re: Steve Morison

The more I think about the Etete transfer the more I think it was a desperate purchase.
Premier league clubs tend to like keeping hold of their assets until they're good enough to sell at a decent price. If Spurs thought highly of him they would have made him available for a loan, and not for sale for the price of a 4 bed house. We don't need a project.

We need to recruit a proper first-team coach just as much as we need to recruit a striker. It's been obvious since the end of last season that Hudson and Ramasut aren't good enough.

Hard to argue with that assumption, just fingers crossed!

                          Re: Steve Morison

I much prefer the way we are playing at the moment that the old route 1 but as a result of that change and the type of players,we now have, we’ve totally lost the aerial threat from set plays. I remember very few times,if any, when we won the ball in the air. There were times last night, when we could have done with Sean Morrison both defensively and in attack, to give us another option, but he won’t fit into this style of play. I think we had it coming last night, after starting well and not finishing any of the few chances we had. We were lucky to win against Birmingham, because we created some clear cut chances and only finished one and I always felt they could have played a goal out of the hat and undeservedly got a point.

When you see a team like Luton bringing the likes of Jerome and Woodrow off the bench, you can't help thinking our signings has been naive to this point. Let's not forget he sacked off James Collins, who like the two aforementioned isn't a great championship striker, but all three far more experienced and suited to our style of play than what we've currently got.

Can't say I disagree on the coaching either. It's concerning that with Hudson as first team coach and Purse in the building we've conceded two basic goals from free kicks with attackers queueing up on the back post as well.

I wonder why Kipre isn't in the mix more offensively from corners and free kicks, but in general I totally agree with what you've said here.

Pretty much guaranteed if we signed people like Jerome or woodrow this place would be in meltdown - look at the forensic destruction of anything and anyone that happens when the endless amount of names are mentioned. And hung drawn and quartered if they don't score straight away

The reaction to last night is bad enough with everyone in the squad plus all aspects of the management team and owners being subject to some form of criticism
