Amidst all the Bale bollox going on I actually forgot we’d qualified for a bit.

I think we’ll struggle to get out of the group stages if I’m honest.

I can't see us getting out of the group stages.

If we can scrape a draw against the US in the opening game we'll have a chance.

If we do, a lot will depend on the form of the younger players. If they all show up we are in with a chance. Our defensive core is decent, and Rodon & Mepham are now playing regulary at a high level. The golden oldies will chip in, but we can't rely on them to run the show like they used to.

Having watched the Dutch games in the Nations League , I'm a little worried about our game plan.
We seem quite an organised team , with an obvious plan of hitting our wide men..James in particular.
But I noticed when a couple of the Holland players ran at our defence/midfield , wIth the ball...our shape went missing.
Grealish and Sterling will have a field day if Southgate has done his homework.

The more I see of Bale the more I’m glad we didn’t get him. No disrespect intended, he’s a legend but deep down I think he knew he wasn’t fit enough for Championship football. The USA league was an easier and warmer option.

Harry Wilson on the bench for Fulham, while Ramsey is missing from the Nice matchday squad (he only just came back from injury).

Out of Bale,Ramsey and Wilson I’d rather Wilson fit. Let’s hope he can hit some form before the WC.

Much as I think he’s a great player he really has been very injury prone throughout his later career and an expensive gamble for clubs, possibly that terrible broken leg he suffered at Stoke meant that he’s been more susceptible to muscle injuries since his return. It will be a nigh on miracle if him and Bale are fully fit for all 3 WC group games!
