Just beat a strong Uruguay team 1-0 in a friendly. Could even go above Wales in the next rankings. I think this could be a very tricky game, especially with it being at midday in the searing heat.

Yes, three very tricky games in our group. The USA will be no push-over, Infact I can see them topping the group with us in 2nd placeOriginally posted by Rjk View PostJust beat a strong Uruguay team 1-0 in a friendly. Have you seen the USA play recently?Originally posted by Mr Soul '68 View PostYes, three very tricky games in our group. The USA will be no push-over, Infact I can see them topping the group with us in 2nd place
They make our recent City performances look like Champs League winners.
I sure as shit don't fear the USA.

Re: Iran
You’re right… they’re not good currently. Canada outplayed them easily in qualifying, and they were a poor 2nd best. Canada are a bit like Wales were historically… 3 outstanding players with competent Championship level players making up the majority of the rest of the team. They play good football but their group is horrible and they won’t get out of it.Originally posted by Ninja View PostHave you seen the USA play recently?

Qatar is such a crazy WC venue. Mad. FIFA are run by not only idiots, but corrupt idiots. Wasn't it Jack Charlton who lost it on the touchline when it was in the USA heat?Originally posted by the other bob wilson View PostDoesn’t seem much point moving it to November/December if they are.

Re: Iran
I was working in Qatar in 2011/2012. I remember being there for their national day celebrations on December 18th and it being very tolerable walking around the place after sun fall. Probably mid-20s during the day, but down below 20 at night -so really ok for football.Originally posted by Citizen's Nephew View PostQatar is such a crazy WC venue. Mad. The national celebrations seemed to consist of a bunch of men racing up and down the main strip in fast cars making as much engine noise as possible and letting off fireworks. No songs, dancing, kids in national costume, local food - that kind of thing.
Dire place. Utterly unsuited to holding a major football tournament.
But we know all this already.

Hotels aren't even showing the games, so if you're out there, you can't see the games unless you're in the ground :hehe:Originally posted by Citizen's Nephew View PostQatar is such a crazy WC venue.
