I have some personal interest in this. Would have loved to be in Larnaca last night..

A majestic through ball by Pieros Sotiriou on the 18th minute picked Marinos Tzioni and he slotted the ball past Greece goallie Odysseas Vlachodimos, as the Cypriots got what they truly deserved in the first 45 minutes.

Edit: can a mod please edit the correct spelling of Cyprus in the title please....my f*ck up!?

Would Wales winning a Euros or World Cup be a bigger shock than Greece winning the Euros in 2004? Almost certainly yes, Greece had a very good keeper and defence as I remember it, but they’ve been crap for most of my life.

Would Wales winning a Euros or World Cup be a bigger shock than Greece winning the Euros in 2004? Almost certainly yes, Greece had a very good keeper and defence as I remember it, but they’ve been crap for most of my life.

Yeah, that 2004 Greek side was all about not conceding. I remember them getting a lot of stick for playing 'negative' football at the time and weren't popular winners (in the media at least). Wales winning would most definitely be a bigger shock imo and in 2016 it looked like the impossible could happen. Knock-out stages are full of surprises.

Cyprus on the other hand.....well, that's the first time they've beaten Greece in a competitive match and because of their history was quite a big thing. They've always been crap and minnows though.
