Until it goes a pale pink colour. You can't miss it happening. Open the window so that the moisture can escape.

Only use matt paint and make sure you thin it so it soaks into the plaster .....or it will flake off

Until it’s gone a light colour right across. It’s really tempting to make a start sooner when it’s almost all done but don’t.
Like others have said leave it ventilated and then just forget it, otherwise it’s like watching plaster dry

Cheers all. It's been 6 days now and it looks bone dry. Should I give it another week to be on the safe side?

You can either buy expensive new plaster paint or buy cheap paint and add some water to it. Either is fine but don't go with normal paint straight away.

You have to leave it until after the City have played, don't ever start it on a Saturday morning

Make sure you apply a mist coat before painting https://www.valsparpaint.co.uk/help-...%20mist%20coat.

I'm doing the exact job your going to do. I'm using Wicks trade matt emulsion and it goes on great and is a good base coat for subsequent paints.

Wickes paint is very good. As are there own branded power tools.

Beware of some of the so called new plaster paint.
New plaster should be painted first using a mist coat, which is a mixture of paint and water, mixed at the ratio of 4 parts paint to 1 part water. After the mist coat has dried you should then be able to apply your top coat.
