  • Virgin Shitty Media #Better Connected

    Before anyone says it should be on the other forum I lost my internet connection yesterday at 1-0 Man City and again today watching the u23’s
    I took the day off today because a Virgin Media Engineer was supposed to call between 8am and midday
    He never arrived
    Neither did we get a call explaining his non arrival
    I’ve rung the cnuts twice
    Both times forty minutes on the phone finally getting through to an automated online test where they say everything is fine with our broadband and goodbye
    I live in Grangetown
    We’ve had intermittent downs in our service for months
    Poor showing from Virgin

    We’re definitely leaving but who’s the best provider out there guys?

    Virgin's probably the best value in terms of what they offer, however I've had problems with the connection also. Pixelation especially on the 'lesser' channels. Very annoying..

      The bloke who sorts out my sound and vision and Internet said they are all tossers it's just who is the smallest tosser

      I stick with talk talk although some people think they are the devil

        We've had Virgin, ntl and before that Cabletel for very many years. We've very rarely had a problem and when we have it has been sorted very quickly.

              Don’t go anywhere near Talk Talk….aliken to the hotel California

                They are, still sending me bills 6 months after I changed to virgin. Then debt recovery letters. Denying calls and ever ending contract. Worst ever

                  Aren't they all the same company, just changed names over the years?

                  On the subject of VM, find them a bit crap, red button doesn't work a lot of the time, amd a lot of channel drops and outages. Plus their mis-selling of sky sports channels in HD.

                    Do a complaint mate, use this system to log information it builds a solid complaint template with phone calls missed appointments etc.


                    Then complain to Virgin via that service.

                    They'll probably try and fob you off, but make a note of all the times it's let you down, claim for the trouble and upset or stress and inconvenience, if they don't come up with a realistic offer you can take it to the next step.

                    We can help you to resolve your dispute with a company or trader when you have exhausted their complaints procedure.


                    You have to give virgin 8 weeks to make a good offer, which I feel by the sounds of it should be £300 plus? usually £50 to £100 a missed appointment and £200 for stress and inconvenience.

                      I moved from TalkTalk who were great until I had a problem, then their complaints department are non-existent, I used the above methods first time I asked for and got £698, it still wasn't fixed and I couldn't move providers due to an issue between them and Openreach, again they were useless and I got another £450, and then switched to Sky, who have been brilliant to be fair.

                      The other I considered was Vodafone, who speeds looked cheap and service looked good with a £150 gift voucher to switch via money supermarket or Uswitch, look there first they have great offers and discounts. TalkTalk messed them about so I lost the deal and they couldn't take the switch, so I claimed the £150 from TalkTalk as part of the 2nd complaint.



                      Compare a range of broadband deals including fibre broadband and TV bundles with Uswitch. Find our best offers from Sky, Virgin Media, BT, Plusnet, Vodafone and more.


                      When I went to Sky I rang to cancel, and got the best deal to remain and superfast broadband with 4 Sky Q boxes (I had those already) for £60pm, that was through the retention unit, they slashed the price of the TV to get the broadband.

                        I’m switching to BT
                        they even buy out the remainder of your contract up to the value of £300
                        Since I posted originally I’ve spoken with several neighbours and was shocked to learn that they had exactly the same experience and are also fecking off to broadband pasture’s new
                        Oh by the way the BT fella explained that the optic cables they use are installed by openreach
                        BT owns Openreach

                          I had terrible problems moving from virgin mobile. Call centre in Asia wouldn't let me close the direct debit because i couldn't remember my password. There was no flexibility on their part at all. I even tried blocking the direct debit, they then sent me a letter threatening balifs. The mad part about it, their phone operators could see that my mobile account was dormant for over a year, so they knew i wasn't even using the service but still wouldn't let me stop the direct debit. I asked them to send me a letter containing a new password, they wouldn't do it. After over a year, i found my password on an old phone and managed to cancel. They'd probably still be taking money now had i not found the password. Terrible customer service.
