  • Forest v Villa

This must win game for Forest against 16th placed Aston Villa is going to make for great TV. The noise and adulation from the fans when Cooper makes his entrance, miraculously still as manager, to the despair if Villa score first or the euphoria if Forest get their noses in front. It's going to be a wild ride, but I still think he is going to be sacked sooner rather than later, so come 10pm will it be a thumbs up, or a thumbs down from the impatient Forest owner, Evangelos Marinakis?

Brennan Johnson starts, with Neco Williams & Wayne Hennessey on the bench.

Forest spent £150m in the summer and are playing Sam Surridge up front.

        Next 5 games:

        (A) Wolves
        (A) Brighton
        (H) Liverpool
        (A) Arsenal
        (H) Brentford

The only positive is the Forest fans are still on Cooper's side (for now).

Pretty average game. Lots of commitment but not a lot of skill. Cooper and Gerrard will have up their game if both teams are to survive in the Prem.

The game was never about the football, more to do with the fait of those in charge. Forest were terrible and devoid of confidence up front. Everybody could see the pass, but the players wouldn't or couldn't make it. Lose at Wolves and I think it's all over for Cooper, and he could be heading for 4 or 5 defeats in a row before the World Cup break.

He isn't getting sacked after wolves, he has just signed a new contract .

I know they aren't worth a lot these days but unless the forest owners love losing money I don't see the point of letting him sign a new one to sack him a week later.

If they were going to sack him surely they'd have done that before handing him a new 3 year contract last week?

The whole thing is just bizarre. He nearly got sacked on the Monday, has a 3 year deal by the end of the week after playing 0 games.

That's the obvious conclusion, but I don't see how he avoids the sack if he loses the next 4/5 games. Regarding the new contract it was already on the table, and it would have looked bad if they just fired him after what he achieved by getting them promoted when they seemed more likely to be relegated, so it is just reward for his services irrespective of the current situation. The main issue is the fans, what will their mood be if there are another 4 or 5 defeats? Cooper has to get something from the next game against Wolves if he is to have any chance of staying, as the matches against Brighton, Liverpool & Arsenal look like nul points.

The new contract was a reward for gaining promotion and the owner would have faced a huge backlash from the Forest fans if he renegaded on that deal, and these same supporters are the only thing keeping Cooper in a job right now. Put your City hat on for a moment, and ponder if you would be happy with 10 losses in 11 games, and a solitary draw against below par relegation rivals? Cooper's future is in his own hands, but football fans are a fickle bunch and they can quickly change their tune.

I want them to do well because 1/5 of the Welsh team plays for them
