  • Wigan 1 Blackburn 0

There’s a result from last night that’s gone a bit under the radar. Good result for Wigan, perhaps unexpected, after their display against us. Blackburn 7 0 7, this season, no draws at all, flattered to deceive earlier in the campaign.

Blackburn’s lose, win sequence extends to eleven games.

Wigan weren't bad against us, we just outplayed them.

With our two best fullbacks out, and our Striker injured for the second half and it should have been five - one, that was a great performance on reflection.

This result further suggests to me this could be a very evenly spread Championship this season in terms of quality. Dare I say it, a revived City could make a positive impact.

on the other hand our second goal was miles offside, we looked vulnerable as hell once they had pulled one back and the third one only went in because the posts were too high.

we played well but still rode our luck as well, and I don't think Wigan are very good, I would expect them to be in the bottom third come the end of the season.

still great result and if we can follow it up against Coventry maybe we can get some momentum

Did the Wintle free kick really only go in because the bar was 2" too high?

This has been claimed by some print reports, by Wigan and Swansea message boards, by the Wigan manager, and by Michelle Owen in the Sky coverage of Wigan-Blackburn. But is it true?

Given the angle of the shot if the bar was 2" lower wouldn't it have just hit the underside of the bar a foot or two further along and gone in?

Exactly only a pessimist would say, Actually if the goal had been the correct size i wouldn't have gone in, nonsense it is the size it is, the same for both teams, it would have still gone in anyway, and we battered them!

Wouldn’t say it was ‘miles’ offside as Ojo was pretty much in line with O’Dowda who squared the ball.
However my instinct when watching was that he was off.

Wintle also unlucky to be given off in a similar situation a few minutes later.

We did have to soak up a lot of pressure, but looked very good on the counter attack

                    Agree that Wigan are ordinary
