  • Just got back……

After the first 10 minutes I thought that we were in for a great game!

But the ref put paid to that by sending off Simpson for a reason that is still beyond me. I wasn’t even sure if it was a foul…..anyway, he effectively ruined the game at the point and the remaining 70 minutes were a combination of boredom and torture.

When I watch games and a team has a player sent off, it often seems as though the remaining 10 are inspired and almost make up for the missing player by raising their games. It is often quite exciting.

However, as soon as Simpson went off I just knew that we were done for. At no point did I even remotely think that we’d get back into it and their second goal proved the point. It was so easy for them.

I don’t recall being so disinterested in a half as I was today in the second half - it was like attack vs defence (did we have a shot on goal during the whole game?). People in the away end were sitting around on their phones and not even watching.

A huge waste of time and money - thanks to an absolutely shocking refereeing decision.

I couldn’t even work out if QPR were good or just made to look so by playing against 10 🤷

I was there also and got home at 22:50.
Agree fully with your above analysis.

When you're one down with 73 minutes to play, away from home against a good side, you're stuffed.

Well we just don’t know what would have happened sadly - I’m always optimistic that we’ll at least give a team a good game, but the chance of that happening just evaporated when Simpson went off.

(What I mean is, if Simpson had remained on the pitch, I’d have still believed that we could back into the game. But when he went I thought that was it. And that is incredibly frustrating, especially when you have shelled out £160 just for the tickets!!)

I share the sentiments and got in about 10 mins ago. Put a lot of effort into going and meeting up with City friends and my son with us going to the first live game since he came back from Oz. The ref fecked things up for us all and it was so disappointing. Why no VAR in the Championship ffs? There's enough money.

I guess the fact they have gone top of the league shows they have a bit about them. But the we played bottom of the league and looked cluesleas as well.

Almost as if we have a manager with doesn’t know what he’s doing lol

Coventry just beat Sheffield United, they were only bottom as they'd played far fewer games than everyone else. They're a good side who had a slow and disjointed start to the season

Hudson has been done over by 2 dreadful decisions in consecutive matches, prior to that he'd won 7 points from 3 games from a tough trio of fixtures. He may not be the answer long term, but some are really overreacting here

They are a good team in the top two, in great form bar Luton, they probably would have won anyway, but that decision was disgusting, and took any hope at all of a draw.

Losing Jamilu Collins and Romeo for one game is a disaster, we don't have any cover other than NG, then we miss him in the middle, if we don't sign a leftback as soon as we can we are in trouble, as we are wide open down that side, and Bagan is just as bad.

You can't see a win after that can you?

They are at home, played a day earlier with a good come back and win, we will be tired after chasing shadows for 90 minutes most of it with a man down, no fullbacks and now Simpson out, on paper we will get stuffed.

But it's football and mad things happen, lets hope!

I'd argue that we defended better in the second half than we did when it was eleven against eleven - QPR could easily have scored three before the penalty.

                            Really?

Or they just took their foot off the gas in the second half - it felt a bit like that.

I wouldn’t argue about QPR easing off in the second half, but there was about a ten minute period midway through the half where they upped it somewhat and there was some good defending (surprisingly by Nkounkou once or twice). We had two good shots in the first ten minutes but I watched the first quarter of an hour or so thinking we’re going to get thrashed here.
