Re: Gerrard
This was inevitable.
He could have stayed at Rangers for two more seasons, won trophies and taken them into Europe and become a Rangers legend and consolidated his reputation.
Instead, he jumped to the Premier League that he was ill prepared for and now even his short Rangers legacy is being quickly forgotten.
What a thicko.

Re: Gerrard
That's the Michael Beale we were strongly linked with this time last year and I can't help wondering where would we be now if we'd appointed him instead of Morison? The fact Beale has turned down Wolves also means that it wouldn't have been inevitable that he would have moved on if he had come here and been a success. That said, would he have been desperate to go to somewhere like Wolves after a few months of working with our non footballing transfer committee members?Originally posted by islandblue View PostRangers fans seem to think his success up there was down to his assistant Michael Beale whose side beat us easily last night.

Re: Gerrard
Aye, multi millionaire, one of the best English footballers of his generation, scorer of worldies, has managed two of the UKs most historical clubs, a very respected person throughout world football etc etc. I wish I was a thick as him in football terms.Originally posted by AfricanBluebird View PostThis was inevitable.

Managerial-wise, it was always a stupid move. He's been fired and Villa looked awful under him. Facts.

Re: Gerrard
He would have still lost Beale then everything would hae gone wrong there also, looks like another Manager in a job above his capabilities, because he was a good footballer, it doesn't follow that you will be a good Manager.Originally posted by AfricanBluebird View PostThis was inevitable.

Re: Gerrard
Difference being you could achieve Champions League football and a cup every year at Rangers no matter who your assistant is, whereas keeping a team like Villa upper to mid table in the prem is a real achievement.
I agree it’s not a decision I would have made, even though I’m sure he got paid nicely and he’ll get a championship job in no time.
