First snow here in Iowa was Monday - an inch or so which is hanging around as the temperature hasn't got back above freezing yet.

It's 2.40pm Friday and is minus 5 celsius (real feel minus 10 if you're out walking). Expected to get into positive territory next week so this is on the early side for snow.

Last winter there was snow on the ground throughout late December - late March, hate it.

Des, i have a few Polish friends and have worked with loads. They moan like **** about the Cardiff wind, making it feel like -5 when its probably around 4 or 5. They say that they don't have that kind of wind for the best part in winter, and the horizontal rain. They say it's colder, but easier to warm up.

Don’t mind if it snows on Christmas Eve night, blanket of it on Christmas Day and all gone by Boxing Day morning. Horrible stuff.

Started snowing here 2 days ago (about 90 mins north of Toronto) and has barely stopped. We’ve got about 20 inches so far. We nearly always get a white Christmas but this is really early!
Buffalo (NY) which is just across the border are expecting up to 6 feet in the next 24 hours.

Not too different but I’m around 5 hours from the border. We had a huge influx of refugees to start with but the majority have trickled back, I think we’ve still got around 70 or so between us. Have seen a lot of US consultants (:facepalm:) and troops over recent weeks. Talked to one group & their role was retrieving bodies.

Love a bit of snow now I'm not doing a daily commute and don't have to drive in it.
I've only been to Krakow which I thought was fabulous. Warsaw is pretty much a post war city because of the devastation of WW2 I understand.
